Yes, it is part of the latch.

Hose it out thoroughly with WD40 and repeatedly open/close the door. See if that helps.

It's inside the door, attached to the mechanism of the latch. WD40 is a temp fix.

i disagree. I think the switches just get dirty and the wd-40 cleans them....this happened to me when i bought my truck 3 years ago..........I spray the switches twice a year as maintenance and it has never happened since....

well havent tried the wd40 thing yet but if that doesnt work could i wire the 2 wires together and keep the door ajar light off for good i no it will mess with the dome light when you open the door but ill just use the switch on the dash for that

The only work I sanction on these trucks is fixing it properly....I would take the 150 seconds it take to spray all the doors......I believe it it close to a 100% success rate.....

I am not sure how the switch is wired? it might be wired so the switch just grounds the connection? one wire might be for the light and the other wire for the buzzer? hey I go an idea why not just fix it right the first time?

Actually, you would simply disconnect the switch.
It closes to make a ground for the light. Not connected means it can't close (reach ground). Connecting the two wires will give you a constant door ajar light.

I think you will have success with the spray lube though (not WD40).

Here's how I do it:

Open door
spray latch with the straw (window up) more than you think you need to, 4-6 seconds of douching in many directions. I use Remington teflon gun lube.

Using a phillips screwdriver shank, simulate the latch post with one hand while the other repeatedly opens the door handle after each simulated latching.

Open/close the latch a few dozen times and spray it again for good measure. You can do this very quickly with the screwdriver while the lube is flowing.

Opening and closing the door is silly when you can do it 5 or 6 times manually in the time it takes to open/close the actual door.

Rag up the mess and expect some drips from the bottom of the door.
