Hey guys,

I started getting this sort of knocking noise on my 2003 ranger. I can't seem to find exactly where it is coming from. Before I just start throwing parts on the truck I wanted to see if anyone had some input on what the noise could be.

The noise seems to only be there for about 5 minutes after I start the truck. After that it seems to go away and wont 't come back until I shut the truck off and let it sit for over an hour. It doesn't matter if i'm just idling or driving the noise is there for minutes and then it goes away.

I did pull the belt off and start the truck and that seemed to stop the noise. So I am assuming the noise is coming from somewhere in that area.

Any input is appreciated.

Some info about the truck.
2003 Ford Ranger 4.0
about 150,000 miles
the belt along with idler puller and belt tensioner were replaced less than a year ago.

Here is a link to a video with the noise I am referencing

If you took fan belt off COLD engine and started engine and noise was gone then do it again and spin each pulley by hand this this time.

Also with fan belt on turn AC on and off and see if compressor or clutch is causing the noise

And just a heads up on "new" parts
New used to mean "tested and working"
New now means "you test it for us and we will replace it if it doesn't work"

So test the new parts as well
