My 1992 2.3 hasn't been short of problems, But now she doesn't even wanna start. When you turn the key to fire the engine its pulls power but then just clicks, no attempt to start. battery is good, all fuses are good. It can be push started. But once running its runs really poorly.

Idea? Starter? Starter solenoid?

:dunno:

Tells me the alternator is bad and the battery isn't up to charge enough to start or run the engine well. Put a charger on the battery and charge her up real good and try again. That should disprove my theory.

check connections on battery, starter, and starter relay: make sure they are clean and tight.

then do above and have alternator checked

A sure sign of a bad connection or battery. If the battery shows a charge of 12.4-12.8 Volts, then it's a connection. Do as those above say.

Do this. Had this problem when my starter went out. Had to go as far as replacing the main cables from the battery to the starter. Wires were corroded inside and not allowing full flow of power.

All advice was appreciated, pulled my starter off and got it tested, turned out it was indeed bad. So a new one and now she cranks.

That aside. I have some sort of fuel delivery issue. That comes n goes.
I have a new fuel pump, no crud in the tank, new fuel filter, and I have good fuel pressure. Also a new MAF. I currently have 3 codes when the CEL comes on
172-
Oxygen sensor not switching – system is or was lean – Single, Right or Rear HO2S – Fuel control
327-
EGR feedback signal is/was low – EVR or PFE
332
EGR did not open/respond during test or if memory code, did not open intermittantly – EVR or PFE

She is sputtering and back-firing, and will not get up to speed.
Again, this problem comes n goes. :dunno:

spitting and sputtering could be related to ign control module.. or bad connection somewhere in wiring for fuel pump.

Alright, just got Ignition control module tested, and it is good.
I saw a Youtube video where a "Spout Connector" was bad. Anyone know anything about this?

The spout is the plug that is taken out to set the timing. Find it! Take it out and clean it up real good and replug it a few times. to make sure it is working. In a worse case cut the plug off and wire the two wires together. That should make the same connection as using the plug. Then when setting the timing simply separate the two wires.
