Was driving to work today and my 1990 B2 just died, no lights, radio, etc except the check engine light and battery light stayed on. Power locks wouldn't even work. I tried disconnecting the battery, then hooking it back up again and was able to use my locks, but when I went to start it the thing wouldn't even turn over, and in fact the accessories and such would act like they are not working too. (so in other words, when key is in the run position, nothing works).

Is there a main fuse somewhere I should check? Or where is the fuel pump shutoff? ANythign else I should look for? Thanks guys, you are the best.

The fuel pump crash switch is under the carpet on passenger side, but if that was tripped it would still turn over

Might be the ground wire for the battery?

Mine was doing this last week (84 B2) it was just a bad battery connection in the wiring, replace the battery cables and it fired right up.

Well the dome light, power door locks and head lights have power all the time so not on the key switch.

If those work with full power then it could be EEC relay, powers engine electrics

But check both ends of all battery cables first.

I am going to check it out at noon again and see what happens. Is the main fuse a possibility?

There is no "main fuse", there is a wire from the "+" battery terminal to the Power Box, usually it has no fuse, but powers all the fuses in the box.

The alternator "B+" wire(s) will be fused or have fusible links, but if they blow engine would stay running as long as battery had power.

x2 or corrosion between terminals. Just take them off, scrub real quick, and put it back together.

Ditto on the corrosion. It was a problem for me before I replaced my cables.

Not sure of all the circumstances but have you checked to see if the alternator took a crap on you? That's what it sounds like

sent while I should be working, or fixing something,,,

Didn't make it there over lunch to check it out, will head after work now and see what I can find... Hoping just bad connection or bad battery or even alternator I could handle. Thanks again.

Well I pulled the battery and took it to the auto store, it came up as "bad", so I got a new one. Go to put in it and it won't turn over still. Even just putting the key in the "run" position causes nothing to work. Just check engine light and battery light. Lights inside cab and out do work. So, I think what happened is that I hit a bump, and the modified battery in it has terminals on the top. The positive terminal jumped up and made contact with my hood. Causing the truck to short out and die. So, what did I short out and need to replace? Going to tow it home tonight... THanks again guys.

A fuse would've blown off that happened, check your main fuses.
