So I'm driving it as it is. I replaced the u joints which made the vibration go away and the truck drives fine. She burns oil but she goes. I still need to figure out the idle issue though

I drove mine for about 100,000 km or more with the wonky oil consumption...just got to the point where I'd have more oil on reserve than gas some times...still haven't found a direct swap engine or even one I would consider rebuilding...

Have you checked your PCV hidden down under the front runner of the intake manifold? That would possibly affect oil consumption and a miss.

Not yet. I did notice the coolant temp gauge isn't working. I'll bet that if I replace the temp sensor and the sending unit that the computer will stop trying to run the motor like it's cold...

Is the thermostat working? That can affect the coolant temp, and thus operating temp & computer reaction.

Yea. I put a brand new one in when I rebuilt the front of the motor. The temp gauge in the instrument panel doesn't work. I'm going to replace the sensor and the sending unit.

I actually took one off a truck at a pull-a-part... and didn't install it.
