Black smoke can indicate rich fuel mix and the code might mean your pump is running all the time...meaning fuel pressure is bleeding off...meaning you may have leaky injectors, or a broken FPR diaphragm that is allowing fuel to be sucked into the intake through that opening.
PUll the hose from the Fuel Pressure Regulator on the fuel rail and smell it...if you can smell gas that might be causing your black smoke.
If not, it may indicate your fuel pump circuit including the inertia switch needs to be checked for ground issues.
Could be something else but check the FPR...you can also check the injectors by pulling the plugs and seeing if they are excessively wet or if the combustion chamber has a strong smell of gas...if you have a probe with a camera it might help you find leaky injectors...or maybe someone else has a test for them.
