We are over looking .22LR. It is the most popular in the world.

I thought about it but it is hard to say that when it has been nearly impossible to find ammo for 3 years. Kinda wondering if they are dawdling to grow the .17 market, most guys are going with them for new guns because you can actually get ammo for it. Never heard anything about it but a thought I had.

17HMR is rim fire as well. Good round and only few cents more per round I think.

If you compare 100rd boxes of .22LR to 50rd boxes of .17HMR it is pretty close.

I would think the 7mm Mauser, 8mm Mauser, 7.62x39, 303 brit and 556. But I highly doubt the 7.62x39 is used much for hunting purposes.

'Tis a shame for how ballistically similar it is to the all American deer slayer... the 30-30.

My 762 upper gets used WAY more than my 556 upper for sure.

I've never seen a "legal" hunting round in 7.62x39. I have no doubt it would be efficient, it just isn't loaded for it that I've seen.

Since there hasnt be a post in here for a bit, I will brag about a couple I got not to long ago. First off is a Savage .17HMR....
I also picked up another AR, didnt need it, but the price was right. Got these from a Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation Banquet.
2 weekends ago I also got a Browning A bolt in 7mm mag (from another RMEF banquet). Paid for 4 sponsor memberships and won the gun.(sorry no pics, just got it in)Probably never will shoot it, I like my .300 WSM better.

Well since my last post in here (almost a year ago) I've added a few things to the collection.

  1. 6.8 SPC upper receiver for my AR-15. Also converted my existing rifle lower to a carbine lower.
  2. Savage model 93 .22 WMR
  3. Andersen MFG stripped AR-15 lower, built into a rifle lower :icon_twisted:
  4. Mossberg Maverick 88 - All Purpose
  5. Aero Precision AR-15 stripped lower for carbine build (waiting for delivery)

I know, I need pictures right. I'll try to add a few after I get the new lower built.

Also another of the stolen guns was recovered. One of dad's hunting rifles, IIRC it was a 270. Was recovered by the police, but we didn't get it back. Don't know the story here other than it was found with someone they busted. They may be holding it for evidence, or it may have been turned over to the insurance company. :dunno: Either way, it's off the streets and another crook in jail.

I am going to build a nice AR rifle lower to handle my 39 upper, 556 upper and eventually my SOCOM upper.
