I am wanting to purchase a truck I found that has been wrecked. It is a 2000 ford ranger 4x4. It is a nice truck other than the wrecked front end. It appears to need a new bumper, hood, radiator support, rad, ac compresser, header panel, grill, paint, and some slight frame repair. My question is firstly, how much you figure it will cost for these things. Secondly, when replacing the rad support, can I just remove the inner finders and pull the entire thing out and replace it, or would I be better to drill all the spot welds out and just weld in a new support bracket?

update

I didn't recieve any advise, but I figured I would update everyone who checks out this question. I decided to straighten the inner fenders and remove the core support. I have it pulled out and am fixing to swap it with 1 from a parts truck. Everything went smoothly with the rad support removal. I found out the frame was diamonded, which sucks, but everything else is coming along nicely. I just hope it is mechanically solid once I finish up with body repairs.

The reason you didn't get any advice on the subject could have something to do with the fact that you asked a question about exterior body panels in a section of the forum devoted to the 3.0L engine. If you have questions about the 3.0L, this is the place to ask. If your question is regarding anything else, there are different sections of the forum for that stuff.

Asking questions in the correct part of the forum (The "Exterior" section in this case) will get you the best results, and keep the site more organized. Guys that know about the exterior stuff probably aren't looking in the 3.0L subforum "just in case" there are threads here about exterior topics. It makes it easier for everybody when you post in the appropriate section of the forum, and you're more likely to get the right set of eyes on your issue too.

Yeah, I realized I posted it in the wrong spot, but I didn't know how to move it or delete it. I tried to, but couldn't figure it out. Anyways, sorry about not posting it in the correct spot. It won't happen again.

A mod would have to move it. I'm not trying to jump all over you, but it might explain the lack of responses that you had. I just think nobody really saw it.

Sounds like you're on the right path. Good luck with the truck!

I moved it into general discussions. There didn't seem to be a section that dealt with your specific question.
