Hey guys, I am just trying to collect some information.
My truck has a V8 and 4R70W in it from a 96 Explorer. It also has the stock D35 TTB and Ford 8.8.
My ultimate dream is to swap in a 4406 (a real transfer case as opposed to the AWD one I am going to use for now) and find driveshafts from vehicles that bolt up. No custom made ($$$) driveshafts.
However I have heard and read many different things so I figure that I would see if anyone has first hand experience:
Rear Driveshaft:
From this thread http://www.ranger-forums.com/8-cylinder-tech-34/5-0-ranger-4406-t-case-139472/
-It appears that the rear driveshaft can be sourced from a reg cab short box 4x4 V8 F150 (120inch wheelbase) (97-03, same year the 4406 can come from)
Also I have heard that expedition driveshafts will work??? Unconfirmed
Front:
I have heard that the one from the F150 will work straight up (4406 to D35)
I have also heard that that only works for D35 IFS
I have also heard that the front F150 shaft works for a D35 TTB using a conversion U-joint
Anyways...that all I got. Anyone else?
