So since my Sport Trac is having electrical issues, I was given a 99 extended cab 3.0L 2wd. I am going to use this thread for maintenance, mileage and minor upgrades.

So when I decoded the VIN I noticed Ford had a U and V identifier for the 3.0L; U - 91-08 and V - 99-03. Was there really any difference between them or was this just a Ford thing?

EDIT:
Found the answer to my question I think.

Valves are hydraulic roller tappet and hp rating, 145 hp @ 178 ft lbs of torque. If there is anything else please inform me.

1999 Extended cab 3.0L auto
Miles: 56k

And then my personal tag.

Ya get rid of that 3.0 while you can.

Must be nice to be given a truck.

This is a DD man not a swap. The Sport Trac is getting a couple swaps done though. It will be my dedicated hunting rig.

So I have made a list of strictly cosmetic changes that I want to make already.

  1. Install 2000 style tail lights to keep the 3 bulb set up (less work and electrical to mess with)
  2. Color match grill/bumper (I hate chrome)
  3. Fog light valance (only if it does not have it already)
  4. Install custom clear headlight assembly w/ LED headlight
  5. Metal tailgate handle
  6. Grill inserts (Black)
  7. Tint (50 state legal. I got a ticket for tint on my 8.)
  8. Stereo w/ back up camera (Wifes car (2011 Kia Soul) has spoiled me.)

Maybe. This is going to a nice looking DD. No performance mods are planned at this time.

First thing first though. I need to go through it and make sure everything gtg i.e. plugs, wires, coil, oil, coolant, trans, power steering, brakes, shocks, shackle hangers, body mounts. You know, typical Ranger stuff. There will be no dirt words used in this thread i.e. Chevy, gm, Chrysler, dodge or any of their craptastic vehicles.

She's a nice DD, decent mileage and 2wd. Just bought everything minus the efan to do an efan swap on it to squeeze out more mileage and power.

I think my clutch fan is shot, truck sounds like a jet taking off and in not going to polish a turd by replacing with another clutch fan.

Should get back on but have a fresh start.

Every time somebody plans one that's about as far as it goes. Last one was two years ago with Ben.
