I hope anyone can help me out with this problem...I have a 2004 ranger 3.0 with 52,000 miles on it. When I have my A/C on, when I go to shift around 3,000 rpm's, the engine hangs at that rpm and will not go down unless I disengage the clutch. I am thinking of making a trip to the ford dealership since I have a full warranty until 75,000 miles. Any help is appreciated. If you need more info just ask me. Thank you.

dont touch the truck....take it to the dealer.

no sense in risking voiding a perfectly good warranty by climbing under the hood yourself.

Could it be something with the throttle? And if the dealer has to take it, them jokers better give me a rental car! That is the only thing I have up here in va. beach...I can't go to north carolina to see my family without a vehicle to get there...lol.

please explain the problem better. are you saying that you get up to 3k in gear, then when you let off the gas, the engine holds that speed in gear? or are you saying that when you push the clutch in and let off the gas, it stays at the same rpm?

When i push the clutch down, it will hang at 3000 rpm's...it only does it when I am in the upper rpm range...at 2500 or less rpms, it will go down. but at anywhere around 3,000, with the clutch to the floor, the rpm's hang there.

could be a VSS problem or a IAC solenoid problem.

get it to your dealer.

Well, I ran it today with the A/C on and was checking to see if the truck was still acting up...and it wasn't...but I suppose if it acts up again anytime soon, I will be taking it to the dealership to see how much they will try to screw me...even though it is a full coverage warranty.
