Hey guys,, I just finished installing my new fuel pump. That was a pain in the ace! Anyways after several quick trips to the store and back I figured a little 100 mile round trip was ok. The truck ran perfect but after that journey I got back in my truck and turned the key and the starter had to turn over for several seconds as I pumped the gas a little to get it started. When it started a cloud of white smoke came out. It had a gas smell to it. While idling and driving down the road the truck runs fine. It only seems to do it if it sits for 30+ minutes. What could this new problem be?

I must add that on my 100 mile road trip I found a gas station selling non-ethanol gas so I filled her up. Could that be the cause of this?

It sounds like the engine was flooded. I bought some ethanol free gas for my outdoor power equipment and noticed it took several pulls to get my mower started (it's a Honda that starts with half a pull on normal gas).

I'm thinking that has to be the issue! I just filled the tank up with 91 octane to make get a better mixture. Normally my truck starts before I have time to take my hands off the ignition!

Just an update... It must have been that non-ethanol gas because my truck is running fine now.
