1996 3.0 5sp Ranger...I am in the process of swapping out the instrument cluster (96 Explorer w/tach) Will the speedo from the Ranger fit the Explorer cluster, that way I can just replace the gear on the trip odometer, without the hassle of resetting the mileage to match the old unit.

Thanks Bill

The whole center section of the cluster will come out and can be swapped over.

Ya they come apart in 3 pieces, just remove the clear cover and gently pry them up.

How do you release the wires in the plugs to rearrange them if needed? I have the plugs for the unit that I will use so the colors can be moved to the right place if needed. Also going to replace all the bulbs while it's out. Finally have all the parts, maybe do it tomorrow.

Thanks..Bill

Edited,Edited to say,

Got er done !!!!!!!! plug & play..All gauges, warning lights, hazard/turn indicators working as should be. The screw stubs that hold the headlight switch in place were both broken, did a quick fix with glue, shrink wrap, and zip ties, wish I had taken pictures of the repair, seems to be holding OK, the speedo from the original cluster fit like it was supposed to in the explorer cluster....Bill
