But the 88 pedals are different than the earlier ones, you will need the big clutch switch that goes around the push rod.

The slave hooks up the same though?

My truck has an '88 dash harness so the later style switch is desired anyway, I already have the big connector for it.

My experience with this is that the only difference is the pedal arm for the clutch itself.

I originally swapped an 88 dash harness into my 87. I tried using the cylinder-style switch the the arm just kept knocking it off. I snuck up in there and swapped just the clutch pedal, and it has been working fine ever since.

I had the M5OD in place already on the 87 arm for a few years before this. I did this during an engine replacement, and kept the master that had been there before. The problem is a bend in the arm below the nub that the push rod connects to.

I am converting mine from auto to manual so I don't really have anything to work with. Sounds like the '88 pedals are the way to go then.

Yeah, the pedals will work fine for you. You just need to remember that the F-150s used different strokes and bores on the master/slave cylinder for the clutch, and so you need to get a matched set.

I have a friend with an 83 F100 5.0 and all sorts of crap done. As part of an EFI/OBD2 swap he changed the pedals to fit the 96 dash, and had to change the master for the clutch. Hook up to the slave was the same. No clutch travel because the master didn't throw far enough to move the slave.

I have read to just use early RBV M5OD hydraulics with the M5R2. People say it works, only one way to find out for myself I guess.

Well be sure to let us know if it works. I might be considering a 5.0 swap in a few years here, once I get the house paid off and some money put back.
