First the basics: 1986 B2
Power to injectors
30 PSI at fuel rail
Both fuel pumps running
Removed tank and cleaned 2-3 gallons of fuel
It will run if you spray starter fluid into intake. I got a noid light from Autozone but the one for Ford will not fit, if any other light plugs into the socket should it light? If the noids aren't lighting does that mean ECM?
I'm trying to get the B2 going this weekend as I have a few days off to sort out other issues before I rip out the drivetrain and drop in a 4.0 or 5.0

Could be ECM I had that problem with mine. ....but if you're gonna replace the motor anyways why does it even matter?

If I could get the 2.9 to run I would keep it for now. So is it possible for the ECM to not fire the injectors but still control the fuel pumps correctly?
Before I spend a couple of hundred on this engine which may or may not run, I would get an Explorer for a few hundred thats running and swap them out. I've got a Ranger sitting outside the garage I have to get rid of first. I bought it to do a top chop but even my hillbilly ways won't let me drag another vehicle in until I get rid of this one. I've read a couple of posts that says you need to swap the dash in order to do a 4.0 swap in a pre-'89 B2. Is this fact and why would you need to swap the dash?

Sure it's possible. The PCM is comprised of dozens of circuits. One can fail and leave the others intact. The injector control is just one circuit.

So if I plug in noid light for a GEO, only one that fits, and it doesn't light during cranking means the PCM is shot?
