well i wont bore you with the whole story but I burnt some wiring and my ignition switch. I have the new switch and only have to replace one wire, but some schematics show a ballast resistor. So my first question is will a duraspark ignition have a ballast resistor somewhere else in the wiring?

My second question is what is a "resistor wire" and can I just replace it with a normal wire, while adding an inline circut breaker?

Wiring isn't my forte but I believe the ballast resister is used when there are points involved. Something to do with dropping the amount of current running thru the points while cranking? Someone will be along to give advise....
No knowledge of resistor wire, I'm in to learn tho.

The ballast resistor is designed to oppose what physics wants to do, wich is to resist less when heated up. The ohms on a ballast resistor are supposed to go up when hot. And ive allways thought it was a points only thing too. Im getting ready to just "ground hop" it in frame just to make shure i didnt fry any key things like the coil and the duraspark box. I have to admit I'm looking for an excuse to go pre 73 distributor with an accel points eliminator. Ive worked with them on a couple other engines I really like that combo.

If found some Info on resistor wire. My 75 should have 2 one is in the heater fan, the other is connecting the coil sensor in the distributor to the duraspark box. It is supposed to keep the coil in the distributor from getting the full amps from the alternator. Buy some say the sensor can handle it.

Just stopping by to keep my thread up and to see if I could actually find it again. Iv got everything ready to go with the hot wire to the positive and I am gambling that I leave the other wire on the positive of the coil to supply the dura spark. Its drawing 13amps just waiting on my son to get back so he can work the throttle.
