:icon_welder: Today I am setting up my KKM

I know there is already a topic on the installation of KKN*/**. i made the pictures gradually for members concerned for Explorer years 90-94

I need

and this of course

1) Remove the battery cable

2) Remove the factory airbox assembly
a)Loosen the clamp holding the intake pipe to the throttle body

b)Unplug the connector from the MAF

c) Disconnect the two vacuum lines from the top of the air box

d) and remove the rubber hose running between the oil fill and the intake pipe.

e)Remove the two screws holding the air box lid in place. Now you can remove the whole top half of the assembly by pulling and twisting the intake pipe connection at the throttle body.

f). (KKM recommends that you remove the heat riser assembly and the stock intake tube. I left mine in place in case there is a problem with emissions requirements during an inspection also here in FRANCE. Leaving it in place does not interfere with the operation or installation of the True-Rev-Kit.)

3)Reinstall the intake pipe assembly to the throttle body leaving the clamp loose. Line up the brackets on the MAF with the existing airbox base plate in such a way that the air filter is unobstructed and so that the intake pipe is not interfering with any engine parts such as the alternator pulley. When you find a suitable location mark and drill holes through the base plate. In my specific installation I needed to supply a 1-1/2" x 1/4-20 bolt. This bolt passed through the base plate and the inner fender well

4) Recheck for clearance around the entire installation. If everything looks good, tighten the MAF bracket bolts, the intake pipe clamp and reinstall the MAF connector.
a)

5)install a stopper This is the line that runs to the manifold. The other line can be left open or removed depending if you decided to keep your stock heat riser in place or not..I have done for both

6). Reinstall your battery cable.

Go out and enjoy your new found power and throaty sound from the high performance intake system.

I spent 1:30 to dismantling and assembling the KKM !!! and 1 to this thread !!! Now is pleased he sings much better my EXPLORER.

*I helped my translation of this thread

Use sheet metal to enclose the filter and duct air from the cowl area [in front of the windshiald] to the 'new' filter box.

:icon_confused::icon_confused: You mean.
Use sheet metal to close the air duct that goes to the bumper in front of the 'new' filter box

Build a box around the filter to get cold air from outside, not hot air from the engine.

The advantage is to avoid hot air from the engine.

Having your KKM sitting right in the engine bay like that allows it to pull in hotter air. You can build a box around it to keep the hot air away, like in the above picture.

:icon_welder:I'll make an adjustment with the old stock air box.
Then I'd do a picture.

Thank you very much for this explanation
