Please help me to lift my Explorer

Hello everyone

Obviously I found a whole bunch of things on the forum for to lift my Explorer.
I have read and watched a lot of posts and pictures.

Unfortunately I am not competent enough to undertake such work.
only for give a look more cool .to my truck for just 15 to 20 centimeters extra.

I asked myself the question if there was possible do this lift. just with shocks absorbers . and springs for the front longer high. for the rear. may make this attachment larger ( ***).. or buy already-made. Finally, if it exists in your parts stores.

it may be wise to make an extension to the steering column also?.

Finally I don't not know very well. Could you please give me assistance, in order to achieve this, If you think this is feasible.

Adding taller springs to the front will raise it, but you can only go 2" before the camber will be too positive to align properly. You need to extend the axle pivot brackets to drop the beams down. You can buy these brackets from many suppliers. Extending the steering column isn't necessary, but adding a drop pitman arm is.



It looks like you added a picture of the rear shackle, which you can replace with belltech 6400 shackles to gain some lift.

You can't use Belltech shackles on Explorers due to the way the springs are mounted. You can move the rear axle so it is mounted underneath the leaf springs instead of on top of, but this requires some welding. This will get you about 5 inches or so.

You can also make your own rear drop brackets. It takes a couple of pieces of angle iron and a few holes drilled. It will also take a little welding. What is your ability level and what tools do you have at your disposal?

Or do the spring over. That would probably be easier.

I missed the part where you mentioned you have an Explorer. In that case the shackles wont work for you.

What you can do instead is flip the axle to the springs are over, rather than under.

Can you tell me if the mounting procedure is the same for my EXPLORER

yes it is almost identical, u just have to locate the same parts on your truck in order todo the work

That Skyjacker lift kit is a good one, and you may not need the camber/caster bushings. I would try calling up 4 Wheel Parts, they can usually get you a better deal than that website. http://www.4wheelparts.com/

You can use Bilstein shocks, just make sure you get the correct length for the amount of lift you will be running. Again, 4 Wheel Parts can supply you with the right ones.

As far as the steering, you will need the Skyjacker FA600 drop pitman arm. It gets the steering geometry almost back to where it should be. Using a steering stabilizer can help with bumpsteer, but I dont think they are really needed if you can get the correct steering angle.
