Explorer axle swap question

I want to do the axle swap next spring and I also plan on doing a 3/4 drop. So my question is. If I do the axle swap and don't move the spring perches will it still bolt up and work correctly and if so will it be close to the rear drop that I want?

Yes. You'll end up closer to a 5" drop, but it is bolt in on the leaf spring end. You will either need to weld on shock tabs on the axle or on the frame if you use the shock mounts located on the spring plates of the explorer axle. I've done it both ways...

Ok cool. That would be easier to just leave it the way it is then and weld on those tabs. And since it is gonna save me money on not having to buy the rear flip kit I can just buy a 4 inch front lowering kit in order to keep it pretty level. I appreciate the help. Now I'm in the market for a 8.8 axle setup

It'd be easier to weld them on the axle since its already out. Ruff stuff is having a 20% off sale now through monday on brackets and tabs, perfect time to order some shock tabs. Instead of getting a drop kit, just get the front drop components...

If you're not making mistakes, you're not learning.
Also, if you want just a little less drop in the rear, they make lift shackles too. 2" longer shackle = 1" increase in height. I've heard roumor that ones from a 88-98 GM fullsize will work (they'll be listed as lowering shackles, because they're upside down on a GM truck, but will still lift on a Ranger setup), but I've never done it, sooo that's some research on your end. I know lift shackles have been used, just not sure if there's specific Ranger ones out there or not.
