I have a 89 bronco 2 that had a automatic overdrive in it originally, i got a either c5 or c4 to put behind the 302 and the one i have now was a column shifter and the v8 transmission is a floor mount. will it adapt to my stock transmission linkage or will i have to put a hole in my floor?

Also if i have to cut a hole for the new shifter, is there a adapter to the 302 where i can use my stock transmission? i just got it rebuilt about 5000 miles before my motor went so id like to use it if i could.

It probably easier to buy a floor shifter. You only need to cut a slot for the shifter cable to go thru and get the mounting bracket for the cable to mount on your transmission. Column shifter rod would probably hit the headers or exhaust pipe. I have a floor shifter and I got a 3ft shifter cable separate because the 5ft cable that comes with the shifter are to long to route.
