I am getting ready to swap out my 7.5" for an 8.8" out of a mountaineer, and have a few questions. I was wondering if I can keep it spring under by getting lift springs (my rough measurement is 6" for axletube and springpacks) this would keep my ride height the same. Also I am wondering that since im rebuilding the 8.8 do I regear it to match my 4.10 front diff, or do I swap out the donor vehicles front diff as well and keep the 3.73 donor gears. The 5.0l seems to have the power to pull through the 3.73.
Any thoughts and suggestions are appreciated.

I'd swap it to 4:10's if it was me and I had the option. Depends on what your plans are for this. Race or Wheelin'? Either way the 4:10 would be better.

If your going to be off roading you definitely don't want spring under.

How big of tire and what trans?

If automatic I got along fine with 31's and 3.73's. I haven't driven it yet with the M5R2 so I can't speak to how it does with a manual (with no creeper first)

I'd swap everything from the donor. Get rid of your PVH hubs.

Already have the avm manual hubs on my truck, it will be used mostly as a daily driver, mild wheeling, and hauling firewood, 31" tires
