OK, so I've been tossing this back and forth in my head for some time now, as to which diff cover to use.

Clear Gearz cover w/LED inside axle housing.
I've seen testing of this cover and it is way way stronger than it looks, practically unbreakable. And if I had this cover, I plan to light up the inside of the diff with LEDS.
**Can easily check for water contamination after wheelin
**Will clear my steering

Ballistic Fabrication cover
Looks really mean, almost indestructible. Cheaper.
**Very good chance of my tie-rod hitting it while turning.
**1.5" OD tubing tierod-over-knuckle, very minimal clearance with oem cover.

RuffstuffSpecialties. All 3/8" cover, great customer service.

Forget the cleargearz cover. They dont break they dent and then the gears dig into the back of the cover, and eventually they break. Stick with a steel cover.

Ballistic Fab makes some nice products. But their customer service and shipping blows.

My buddy (forums member Grunizzle) has the Ruffstuff cover, it's great but the drain plug was drilled/tapped a bit crooked so it makes it difficult to seal without tearing up the rubber gasket on the plug.

i know you said you saw testing of the clear gearz, but it looks like if you hit a rock the right way, it'd crack. also, the drain plug looks like it's rubber.....maybe its my screen being too dark. looks like it could be a weak point. however, it would be cool to be able to see your gear oil and know if H20 was in the diff.

as someone else mentioned, i'd go with ruff stuff. i plan on puttin one on my 8.8 as soon as i get it under my BII.

ruffstuff. Support our vendor. I've got one on my D44 front with highsteer and 1.5" tie rod - clears the cover beautifully.

Anybody have pictures of a light in a clear diff. cover? I have one for my D30, came with it, and think that would look cool but dont know how to instal a light in it.
