Have you guys seent the one where the ranger owner tries to unstuck a dodge, and guns it in reverse with tow straps and rips his front cross member off?

Dude had no business being off pavement.

Yes, and it wasn't the whole cross member, just the bumper.

Then right at the end before the video cuts you can hear him blaming the truck.

I *think* the truck would have handled the rock ok had it been *sat* in the truck very gingerly. Just rolling it in off a drop and going to one side is what was bad.

You're not supposed to think that far ahead.

Besides. They probably put it in there for better traction in the snow. It can stay all winter.

right, get it in the truck first, then figure how to get it out later. Some chains or straps holding the rock up with the bucket would have been a help too. Who needs a rock that big anyways?

Picture one cubic yard of cured concrete ,3 x 3 x3 ft...it weighs 3500-4000 pounds...Does that type of stone weigh the same as concrete by the yard?
I have seen many grossly overload pu trucks on the road...The damage often occurs later on, like the owner bitching about bad axle bearings.

OK, I too was waiting for them to take out the box side/wondering how they get it out. (I would have chained it so I could lower it without dropping, removed it after.)

Ranger in question is Sport = 1,100lb rear springs, subtract the 1,500lb empty weight and payload was only 700lbs to begin with. Someone in video mentions, 1,700 lbs sounds about right - narrower than wheel wells which are 40", shorter than box which is 72" and just over box deep which is 16" puts it somewhere between around 15 ft^3. Using Truckedups, ~130lbs/ft^3 would be in that range.

So, while it overwhelmed the leaf springs of Sport, not near the capacity of the axle. When they finally got it out, springs probably recovered just fine.

Now, the tree in the back of the f100 - that hurt.
