Hey guys! long time no see, and I know what your thinking "Oh god he's back to ruin yet another ranger." Well, I've since cleaned up my act with the trying to do a million and one projects and I've steadied my self. I gave my white 2WD ranger to my mother who was in more of a need than a vehicle than me, which she promptly traded in on a brand new taurus... So I was left with this little red thing.

Which then grew up into this!

But after a year of driving it... and fixing it EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. I got annoyed, so i decided to finally go out and get something a bit newer. I worked my butt off all summer on a crab boat and finally managed to save up enough [almost] to get this!

I just have to wait for my next paycheck to pay off the last $1500 and it will be mine!

Its a 2010 4.0L 5 speed 4x4. 40,000kms on the clock, and baisically brand new. I dont want to do much to it because i need it to be reliable as a DD but my baisic plans are: paint it two tone like the FX4, some 31" yokohama MT's on the AR baja knock off rims i have, leveling kit, exhaust, and some "work truck" upgrades, which would be a nice headache rack with some spot lights, push bar, and some bed-rail protectors.

Welp, since cape breton y'know. SUCKS the lady i paid a $100 deposit to hold onto what was supposed to be "my" ranger, sold it. So, now with my funding a bit slack and no wheels what so ever I said screw it. and went and got this!

Sure it might not be a 2010.. and might not have warranty..

But its badass. doesent have the silly traction control, and came pre-scratched and lifted 3"! Other than that its just a baisic 2006 FX4 5 speed. really clean inside and out, I'll take some more pictures tomorrow when I'm putting my rollbar on.

Nice truck. And I'd much rather a pre 08 anyways! No bullshit like traction control, and you get the higher ride height from factory.

My credo
it is easier to fix and understand than "her"
awesome....:icon_hornsup: you should have let er eat slow instead of bonzaii buggy...

i think you lucked out. i see the fx as the more desirable of the two.

i find myself looking at the 04-08 for a future build with my son... but they are holding value pretty good. likely just settle with a ttb truck, but a high travel 150 suspension meld to the rangers does wonders for articulation potential.

if your getting stuck, your pushing the line...:icon_thumby:....

unfortunately, i find i do not like working on the later trucks...so getting them low miles and enjoying the normal service life is the only way to go. once they get worn out the cammer is just a giant pos to me...working on them suks. but uhhh....thats why they make eco boosts and the new 5.0's right!!
