Yeah, no trimming for me. lol. Haven't really put much thought into tires....I think I'm going to run the factory 255/70r16's for a while. I just bought them last fall...no sense in changing them yet. But when I do go with tires, I'll probably grab some 31's with black steel rims. I guess i'll cross that bridge when i get to it.

Update with pics!

UPDATE!!

All right. So i've started the lifting process.

Last night I spent some time installing the Pro Comp add-a-leaf set.

Here's the proof. lol

And here she is before the install.

And the ride height before...

Then the height after...sorry about the fuzzy measuring tape shot...

It's not much...I'm planning on installing Warrior shackles soon. Also going to do the TT in the next couple days too.

One thing I did notice is the incredible handling it has now. lol.

Thanks for looking

The sad thing is, is that that is the height a stock explorer should be...

Looks good!

Yeah...that was my thought too when I saw it. The shackles should make a big difference.

Also, I think it came up a bit more once I drove it a while.....I'll have to measure again to be sure.

Yeah....at some point(hopefully soon) you won't be able to tell it's an Eddie from the outside. I'm hoping to find some XLT trim to get rid of the gold and, more importantly, the side steps.

Not sure if the XLT fender flares are as wide as the Eddie ones though...I'll have to measure.

I say leave it in Eddie trim 'til you knock the running boards off. :headbang:

Yeah...but the running boards are part of the eddie trim. If I take them off seperately from the fender flares, then there'll just be big bulky fender flares that don't flow with anything.

At least with the XLT trim, I'll be able to re-cover the rocker panels AND it'll all match. I'll probably paint it all black too......or maybe screw the trim and install rock sliders. hmm...

Yeah buddy, eighty-six the trim and go sliders. I found out later (after I had my sliders installed... :annoyed:) that Trail Gear makes a set of sliders for a really good price and they look exactly like the ones on my rig if you've seen mine. There are three different lengths to choose from as well. And then just use some flexy flare or something if you end up needing a flare.

*edit* Here's the link to the Trail Gear sliders.
Clicky!

That probably is about the stock ride height. Explorers are notoriously bad for having sagging rear springs.

I have a '99 Explorer XLT, mine doesn't have any fender flares. It did have running boards, but I removed them, right down to the sheetmetal. There are holes in the sheetmetal for mounting the running boards to the body, you might be able to find rocker panels covers from an XLS to cover them, but I left mine empty.

I also installed the Warrior shackles to bring the rear up a little, I think about 1.5". If I were to do it again, I would think about making my own.

To bring the rear up a little more, I'm thinking about having the rear springs re-arched. But, I may not after I find out what that costs. What did your add-a-leaf cost?

And yes...it IS the XLS trim that I was thinking about. Thanks for pointing that out :)
