Hey random question (no, this didn't happen to me or anything), if your driving on the freeway while running your A/C, and the A/C compressor seized up, would the pulley be seized , or would it still free spin? I was just thinking about it and wondering if it would burn through the belt in like 30 seconds.
Just curious..

It will burn up the belt, same as if any other pulley seized.

Had it happen, but at lower speed, LOUD squeal, pulled over and shut it down.
Popped hood then restarted, smoke instantly came off AC pulley, shut off AC and all was well.
But had to roll the windows down the rest of the day to cool off, lol.
