Cheapest is the zip tie mod, no junkyard required...
I'm thinking lower gearing rear end, depending on what you have.

I know I want to replace my stock 3.08 with a 3.73.

Other junkyard mods , from what I have read, seem to be the 130 amp alternator from a 94/95 v6 mustang.
94-04 rear mustang disc brakes.
Rear sway bar from Bronco II.

What's the benefit of the Bronco II sway bar?

the advantage to running the Bronco II sway bar on your Ranger would be the bigger diameter of the sway bar from the Bronco II and I believe it to be a one inch diameter sway bar.

Oh ok. So it's just more rigid so you get less flex?

Cheap and mods don't really go together..

That said, depending on what you have now and clearance, you might be able to swap oil filters for a little better (IMO) protection. I have one of the OLD style FL1A filters on mine. It's huge.

There is the possibility of using 95+ heads on an early engine (or was it the other way around) to bump compression. Supposedly you'd need to run premium then.
