I saw this at my ex's family reunion several years ago. I thought it was a really good idea, especially as my body starts slowing down.

Oh yes all kinds of gadgets and things to load canoes and boats on top of cars trucks and campers what I've always done, is just stick a pipe in the end of the Yakima rack lean one end of the canoe against it and just pick up the other end.

It's been a while, we could do canoe trips where you carry a canoe and backpack through the woods to the next lake or river.

I think I mentioned on one of my other posts my son and I were going to open a small craft and antique restoration shop when I retired well I retired my son lost interest just about the time I went to get into larger wooden boats to restore and rebuild. Sadly we lost him at age 35 about two and a half years ago sigh.
My daughters of course are married and they don't have Lifestyles or time for the outdoors anymore.

I seriously doubt that I could get in or out of one of those beauties. I'm finding out that hips are a pain in the arse. Looks fun though and I hope you are able to get out and do it.

A new AutoZone just opened less than a mile from my house. My third visit there today and the third time I've walked out. I asked for a 180 thermostat for the 4.0 94 I have the listing and part number from advance but I again wanted to try the zone again.

198, 195 no listing for 180, I couldn't even get them to look on the shelf as we all know thermostats are rather generic. I won't be going back to this store any more.


Anyway, what's this about a 198 thermostat? first I've heard of it OMG that is hot Imo

This is more informational than an update on the truck. The current item on my list is bypassing the rabs with a new brake line to the master cylinder

Master Cylinder Port Sizesrimary M10x1.0 , Secondary M12x1.0

which I do not have seems to be necessary for anyone that's going to spend more than a few hours working on mixed metric and USA brake line fittings.

The master cylinder and the rabs unit use the metric inverted flare connections if any of this is wrong please correct me!

Far as I go today till some help shows up later in the week, but I look at this as a minor success!

Last time I worked on brake lines, one of those sizing tools (not for sale) was hanging on the rack with the brake lines and fittings at my local parts store. I was able to use it to find what size I needed. They also had a female sizing tool there that I could thread my old flare nuts into to determine the size. But it seems like you know the sizes. M10.0x1 and M12.0x1 what question are you still trying to answer?

I pretty much settled all the questions about the fittings Eric. I just wanted to post the information for others that will have to deal with it sometime in the future we're past or present LOL

I've delt with the rabs before on my other truck but I had it done , this time I'm going to have somebody help me and save $3-500!

Great.

I often operate under the theory that saving the labor charge by doing the work myself, frees up some money for buying the tools to do the work myself.

I have tools up to Wazoo and Back Agai HVAC Contracting my whole life, house renovation and improvements automotive restoration with my son, (Fieros)Wooden Boat furniture and and canoe construction the restoration with my son.. tools yup.

I like that brake line gauge. Next payday I'm getting one.

Sigh, why I need a reliable 4WD truck rather than a car. Although Subaru 4 wheel drive Foresters are very popular with canoeists.
This canoe is about 18 years old when I designed it my son (rip) and I were making plans for him to take over the family HVAC business and me retire and open a boat and antique restoration shop. This was to be a what's called a one-off design 15 foot, which is a very popular size. I just refurbished, repainted refit the canoe hope to use it in about another week!

Absolutely Beautiful work. Wish I had that much skill and patience.

The tool pictured includes the female ends. They are in the bottom part that is smooth and has the thread size stamped in it.
