Thank you AndyB. Tomorrow I plan on install the switch once I get home from work. If that doesn't work I'm going to go a head and research a nss bypass. The only other thing that comes to mind is there a sensor on the clutch letting the engine know it's pressed? And could it be messed up stopping the engine from turning?If you take off the plastic on the steering column, it will be on the underside, below the lock cylinder.
There is also a neutral start safety switch that may be your problem--the intent is to make sure the clutch pedal is depressed before the starter will engage. I'd bypass that (as a test) before replacing the ignition switch. If you do a search on here for nss bypass, you should find instructions.
