common rail conversion ?

ok im looking @ buying a 01 ford excursion with a 5.4. i am wondering what i will need to do the common rail swap with an allison and the ford trans or 2speed atlas. or would i be better off doing a 24v swap with the allison? is one engine better than the other?

Which engine are you referring to as common rail? There are many common rail engines in existence.

My credo
it is easier to fix and understand than "her"
i would use a 12v complete mopar powertrain fan to t case outputs.

if your stuck on the allison, its easily incorporated.

Most people mean Cummins when referring to light vehicle applications.

I'd go 12 valve/NV4500 personally.

Carefull with the allison, you will need a stand alone controller from TCI in order it to talk to the dodge ecm and ford dash guages..

and even then you will still get funcky shifts or defuels. IMOP you better off with the dodge trans in there, jsut get it built.

BTW Common rail and 24v are the same thing on 03-up dodges.
