I've got a 94 with a 3.0 V6 and I think my catalytic converter's giving up the ghost. I live in CA so I can't just let it go since my last smog results had high HC. My mechanic who's awesome and Ford only for 40 years was telling me that the first gen cat on that truck was designed for 60K and the next one (likely mine) was supposed to last 80. I'm at 127K mi on the truckster.
In CA, we're now allowed to use bolt-on replacement cats which are not so expensive and easy to install. I think it also makes it easier for societal deviants to steal my cat when I park at Walmart.
So...
Did you ever replace your cat? If so, at what mileage?
