how to find my speaker wires again (lol)

face meet palm...

anyway, i took apart my whole dash to get some speakers out (i have another thread on here) and now that i got my speaker (yes singular, i didn't realize they sold them individually, so now i have to get another shipped) i can't find my speaker wires, how can i find them?

do i need to trace them from the HU?

i've tried reaching my hand in the tiny space and fishing for them, but can't find them.

these are in my dash BTW

btw, getting my other speaker shipped tomorrow. but it's being shipped USPS, so i'm not expecting until midweek next week.

it will give me time to get some wire crimpers (couldn't find any at the store i went to)

how will i attach my old speaker connections to my new speakers?

the connections aren't the same.

you can go to an car parts store to get the fitting they come in different sizes all color coded, you need female, normaly a big one and a smaller one, they do that so you dont mix up + and -

head over to radioshack with your speaker. then look for female quick disconnects. then find the right size for the + and - terminal. i think theyre about a buck for a bag of disconnects.

that is my new speaker... so i just look for an adaptor basically?

would it be worth it to run new speaker wire from HU to these speakers? will i get better sound quality or anything?

btw, in the picture, it's kind of hard to tell.... but the connector on the left is wider, and shorter... the one on the right is skinnier and longer.

the left is the positive, and the right is the negative

those are female quick disconnects. take it to radioshack and find the ones that will fit each terminal. youll have to cut off whatever connector is on the factory wire and crimp those on.

so just cut them off with anything? or is there a cutting edge on a basic wire crimper tool?

and just crimp them on? not solder? i'll cut as close to the connection as i can so i still have give on the wires (so they aren't tight)

your crimping tool will have wire strippers built in strip off a lil and crimp down, you dont need to solder, and oem wire is good enuff, youl need the ones in the pic, a blue for the big one and red i think for the lil one, if you have the wires that come with the speaker, cut back about a foot and but splice them wiht the oem

no wires came with my speaker (still waiting on the other one to arrive next week some time from USPS)

anyway, the auto store i went to has some like amp wiring kits, but no crimping tool that i could find... a store like lowe's or home depot would have right?

yea they would have the tool i use something like this if it helps, i know there are alot of different types out there.

if you can get a chunk of soild wire its a bit stiffer, and put a hook on it and kinda "sweep" for it. it will pull up anything lose, but bend if it gets hooked on anything

to trace the corresponding colored wires after my HU harness to grab them and reroute above the heating/cooling vents or something?

they seemed like they would stay, but i looked one day, and POOF they were gone.

crawl up on your hood and look down through your windshield?? they couldnt have gone far, i'm sure they just fell down out of reach.

btw, i wouldn't cut the factory connector off. it doesn't take too much to make a small adapter from ~3" of speaker wire with some male spades on one end and female spades on the other. that's what i have done on both my car and my truck and it sounds just fine. even though i probably won't ever need that factory plug for anything, it's there if i do.

oh and get a set of crimpers like this. they work way better than the other ones. $10 at HF, or probably closer to $20 at autozone. my HF pair has held up just fine.

i could give the crawling a shot i suppose... idk all that wiring lingo though
