Not to happy with Facebook after the last couple of days.

(vent on)

Logged in and started looking over a car sale forum for fun. Someone asked a question regarding NYS inspections and the rules. So naturally, being a retired inspector I answered. The exchange got a bit heated, but remained for the most part civil.

Suddenly the post thread got overrun with xxx posts. We're talking explicit stuff! The porn bots found their way in. So I started to report each one and blocked users, etc... One post was odd, blue highlighted 3 words "Jumpman" 3 times in a row. I was considering reporting it, and left my mouse arrow parked on it for a few seconds.

BLAMO!! Account logged out via FaceBook. (I gots da boot by their system) I attempt to log in, and it reports MY account has "suspicious activity" and facebook wants me to change password and verify my account. All this happens in the facebook log in's and it is legit. No 'clone' site trying to steal my information...

Needless to say I can't log in. Password changed 4 times, it keeps asking me for a security question "1st grade teacher" last name.

I would never use that for a security question--as I'd never remember the answer. But it's on my account, and I've no clue to the answer.

I've sent facebook messages all over the place, and just get the auto response. There seems to be zero interest in helping users out with this issue, as there's no way to contact anyone?!?

I've filed a formal complaint with the BBB against the company in order to try and get their attention. Sadly I think this will fall on deaf ears. Someone did send my account a 'message' and I have updates! But I've no way to log in to my account.

(Rant Off)

I know in this digital age things are quick and happen even faster! But I miss old fashion "Call them up and resolve the issue".

When you click on "Forgot Password" you should get an Email to the account registered to your Facebook.
Security question is usually if you no longer have that email account

reads like you are "seeing" facebook page but are not "talking" to facebook, so a legit site but not connection

At first I didn't click on 'forgot password'. The system went into change password automatically. So I used the code given to change the password. The system lets me 'log on' to the point it states my account is temp suspended for susp activities. Then it has me click on a captcha security image and fill out the code. Then it asks me for the answer to my security question.

That's where everything goes pear shaped. I have no memory of setting up that security question- It was done probably 6-8 years ago. I tried all my universal passcodes I've ever used. Even if the security question is :What is the name of your favorite ice cream (for example) I always type a one word response followed by '123' And it's been my way of doing that for many years.

It does allow me to change passwords. Out of frustration I finally clicked "hacked" account as a last resort. I figured at least it should let me email my ID information to prove it's my account.

It won't even let me do that. Keeps saying "This ID is not blocked, this 'channel' is only for blocked accounts"....

I did setup another account with Facebook so I could attempt to message them about this. The 'new' account works flawless!.... So I know it's nothing at my end. Their stupid system is still stuck waiting for an answer that will never come.

I'm hopeful the complaint I filed with the BBB will get their attention. Most likely it will get ignored, but their customer service blows chunks. Can't get hold of anyone..it's all automatic b/s

Edit: All the emails Facebook has sent, has been to the correct email address. So I'm really confused as to why it's triggering the 'security' question b/s

Your Account is Temporarily Locked
We’ve detected suspicious activity on your Facebook account and have temporarily locked it as a security precaution.
It’s likely that your account was compromised as a result of entering your password on a website designed to look like Facebook. This type of attack is known as phishing. Learn more in the Help Center.
Over the next few steps we’ll walk you through a security check to help secure your account, and let you log back in.

That's the 'message' I get direct from facebook.

As an added bonus: This is the same response I get if I attempt to access my account from my cell phone or laptop. It all ends the same....

Facebook accounts are being hacked it seems pretty regularly.

I have heard people blame those quiz things that ask for permission to access your account and then they take over your account.

I have seen quite a few hacked accounts recently.
