If you take a close look at the front strap on the passengers side tire, you will see how I tie down every wheel. I use a short 18" sling and run the 2" strap through it so that I can wrap the strap to the backside of the tire. The sling stays on the front. This saves me from crawling under the truck to attach chains or straps. There is a strap on every tire. The slings cost about $5.00 each. I got this idea from seeing a tow truck do the same.

That is a good idea.

I have seen the regular things for sale that wrap around the tire but they are not cheap and I don't know how big of a tire they do.

Both times I have hauled mine it seems the chain gets scissored into the front axle on the DS and I have to work and work to get it out of the front suspension.

Rear is easy though.

My credo
If you're not making mistakes, you're not learning.
That's not a bad idea! I was never bothered about getting underneath, but some of the passenger cars I've had on my trailer were of course a little on the short side. I wonder how small of a tire they'll do.

My choices>>>

I use 4 of these ($13 each) with chain on each side of the rearend, have 2 on one piece of adjustable chain to hook around front cross member or trans member to load vehicle if necessary and/or tie it down, and I have large D-rings at all 4 corners of my trailer>

And one of these mounted to the front of my trailer with 30' of strap to hook around front J-hook chain to cinch up the slack out of rear chains, and then run safety chain through D-rings at front of trailer>

I purchased the strap winch & D-rings at Tractor Supply and the J-hooks at Northern Tool.

I don't know that an open hook like that is legal for towing.

The rear is easy, I take the chain go over the axle, under the diff and back over the axle to the other side of the trailer.

I wrap one chain around each front axle which works ok but the TTB at stock height usually jams up with the chain.

================
Same J-hooks used by Rollback/Flatbed wreckers nationwide. Hooks right around the axle tube and ain't gonna move!
