Hey all,
Last Saturday I bought a 2003 Ford Ranger from a dealership. Tonight I started it up after work and I notice now a squeaking noise has appeared. I took a video, it seems to be coming from the front engine bay, perhaps a pulley?? I am beyond frustrated, can someone point me in the right direction on things to try? Serp belt looks fine all the pulleys appear to be running true. I can't figure out how to post the video but it's just some mild chirping sounds like metal rubbing.
All help us appreciated, God bless

Update: I'm going to check for a bad bearing by removing the tension and spinning the pulleys by hand.

Update: the crank shaft pulley does not spin I assume that's normal? The pulley with the fan, the fan has a hair of play in it. The tensioner pulley does not rotate smooth at all, kind of rattles, the other pulleys rotate smoothly. The not so smooth rattling tensioner, is that our culprit? Trying to learn!

Welcome to TRS. There is a great resource at the top of every page called "how to tech". Check it out.

REPLACE IF YOU CAN AFFORD TO.The tensioner pulley does not rotate smooth at all, kind of rattles, the other pulleys rotate smoothly. The not so smooth rattling tensioner, is that our culprit? THIS IS MOST PROBABLE. REPLACE IT.Trying to learn!
Good luck.

My credo
In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
Yeah. What he said. [emoji849]

That crank shaft pulley is the one that makes all the others spin. You can make it spin by applying electricity to the starter motor and by adding fuel, air and spark inside the cylinders at the right time and in the right order. Safest to try this with the belt installed and fingers in your pockets.
