I planning on putting a 88 mustang 5.0 Efi eng. and C4 trans with a 157t bell housing in my 88 ranger. How could I connect the kick down lever on the C4 to eng. any suggestions would be helpful in planning stage.

Thank you in advance

kickdown cable

I am in the process of doing a 5.0 / c4 setup myself.

A friend told me he thought place's like summit or jeg's offer a cable.
I have not checked into it yet. I would like to keep a kickdown but guess,
we can just pull her in 2 an GO.:D

I don't have a kickdown on mine, it will downshift fine when you mash it.

It does seem to upshift a little soon after the downshift though, I don't know if the cable would hold it in the lower gear longer. It has to be there for a reason... we all know Ford doesn't like to make do-dads like that just for the heck of it. :icon_twisted:

I just stuffed same setup in an 87 ranger, but have manual VB. Fits like it was made for it, TONS of room.

What do you think the AOD is based off of? Yep you got it a C4.
The AOD is based off the FMX, the C4 evolved into the C5 and then the family died out.

IMO the only thing the AOD has over the C4 is overdrive.

From a go fast stand point , the C4 is lighter and doesn't suck up as much h.p. to turn.
