After replacing the spark plugs and spark plug wires on my 89 ranger 2.9 everything ran fine as normal, then a few days later replaced the fuel filter. I drove it to the store and ran fine and after leAving it was running hard, jerking and shaking at high rpms. I have no idea what it could be. Any advice?

Bad fuel filter, it happens.

"New" used to mean "it works"
"New" now means "never tested, but we give you a warranty" :)

It could be a coincidence.
Your description sounds like 1 or 2 cylinders are misfiring which could happen with low fuel flow, but I would expect a smoother idle since fuel demand is low.
