If I wanted to get a new engine for my 96 2.3l 2wd 5 speed, what years would be compatable? Or would it be as easy to upgrade to a 3.0?

if you just replace the long block, you should be able to use a '95 to early '01, the 2.5 replacing the 2.3 in '98.

swapping to the 3.0 would be a lot more work involving a whole new tranny and different wiring

What if I wanted complete plug and play? If I could find a donor truck to strip parts off of without changing everything from one to the other
