I upgraded my 90 Ranger 2.9 to a 4.0 clutch setup and used a 4.0 flywheel purchased from rockauto.com for around $30, I searched around and just found one for the best price I could find. For the clutch I picked up a Luk Repset on ebay, can't even recall the price I paid, maybe $125? I remember it was about $10 less than other sites.

Don't forget to replace the slave cylinder at the same time, better to do it now than have it go out on you shortly down the road.

not meaning to thread jack here but is the slave cylinder the same from 4.0 to 2.9 or is this a good upgrade also?

The slave cylinder is the same from 2.9 to 4.0 for early 4.0s. The same slave cylinder works one both. In later years, 93-98 4.0s, it lists a different slave cylinder, not sure what the difference is between pre-93 and 93-98. I've never had the two in my hand but I could imagine it being something minor like the hydraulic connection changing or a new bleeder screw.

I'd say anything with a good warranty. I used an Autozone clutch and flywheel.

ANytime you have that tranny pulled backis a good time to change the slavecylinder.
Mine is a lifetime warranty from AZ also
