A couple more points of interest.
In my reading, typical Mustang mounts have the oil pan sitting close to the crossmember on 4x4 trucks. Not an issue with '83 to '97 2wd Rangers.
Possible ways to remedy this are:
-shim the engine upward slightly (large washer on thew stud between the mount and crossmember)
-the use of Prothane mounts. It's commonly known in the Mustang world that Prothane mounts are slightly taller (3/4") than the vert mounts. (Energy Suspension mounts mimic the height of the lower vert mounts)
Some of the 4x4 guys may be able to add is that much clearance would allow the drain plug to be removed.
BTW, the photo I posted of the cross member slot was from a Mark VII, same idea as the Mustang, same motor mount.
