Hi, new to site, new to Rangers, but not new to 4xr Fords! My question is, How do I service the front wheel bearings on my 95 Ranger with auto-locking hubs???? Everything search has come up with info for manual locking hubs!
Thanks in Advance
BTW, this truck has 352k miles and it still runs perfect, minus transmission slip...

The only thing that is really different is the socket needed for the bearing nut. You need a large hex-ish (not a true hex because it has rounded corners) socket. Also there is a locking chip for those nuts, instead of a second locking nut, that has to be removed before adjusting the nut. I forgot once and was very glad I had a spare spindle around.

There are some pics of removing the auto hub locknut on this page:
http://www.therangerstation.com/tech_library/howto_hubswap.shtml

Assembly is in reverse order (tighten locknut to 35 ft-lbs while spinning the rotor back & forth, loosen nut ¼ turn, then retighten to 15 inch-lbs, then insert locking key).

Other than the wheel bearing locknut & cam assy, (like adsm said) the service procedure is the same as for manual hubs.

There is a flat key that holds the nut on, every one I have tied into has came out easily with a magnet. Other than that it is pretty straightforward (to me it was anyway)

They usually do. I had one that wouldn't come out nice because it was wedged on the nut. Just had to rock the nut off of it and it fell out.

Before I knew how they worked, I torqued the nut so much it split. After the ah ha moment, the other side came out easy.
