My credo
I'm not afraid of dying, not living terrifies me!
I'm out of town and away from my truck which needs rear brakes. I would like to order all the parts so they will be there waiting on me when I get home. Question is do I have the 9" or 10" brakes.

It is a '99 XLT Standard Cab, 4X4 Auto, 4.0, with 4.10 open F/R, if any of that helps. Anybody have a more educated guess than me? I'm thinking 10" since it seems to have more of the heavy duty type options......:icon_confused:

Size of brakes depends on overall GVWR of 4580 lbs, not what options. With what you list for your truck, sure should have the 10" brakes.

I can't recall seeing a 4.0L truck with the 8.8" axle having anything but the 10" brakes, so I think you're pretty safe ordering for 10s.

I Must agree 4.0 engine = 8.8" axle

and 8.8" axle = 10" brakes.

Additionally I've never seen a 1993 or later supercab with 9" brakes.

So I'd be very confident betting on 10" brakes on a '98 4.0 4x4.
