Ok so this is still frustrating the hell out of me. Truck will drive fine in the morning. NO issues at all or symptoms. After work around 5 when its nice and hot out the truck stalls as soon as I let off the gas. I've change the IAC, ETC sensor and sender, thermostat, spark plugs, ignition coil, cleaned the throttle body and MAF sensor, cleaned battery terminals, cleaned every damn electrical plug on the truck with cleaner. Truck feels hot as hell but the temp is normal. Coolant is brown but its always ben like that. I took off the bull guard yesterday thinking it is blocking too much air. yesterday makes 21 times I have stalled out in the last month and a half. Thought it was related to the #27 fuse but that didn't matter yesterday. Only code I got was an evap leak which is probably the bad filler neck. Am going to change the fuel filter once I change the filler neck. Anyone have ideas on this? I can't keep stalling out like this.

Does it start right back up after stalling?

Can you hear the fuel pump turn on? The fuel pump could be overheating.

Could it cause this? Exhaust always seemed ok but who knows.
I just know I've had some strange experiences with catalytic converters usually they just rattle.

No, it never starts right back up. It only starts back up after 10-15 minutes of sitting. Fires up like there was ever an issue. I plan on changing the filler neck and fuel filter and see what that does. I'm tired of replacing good parts hoping it fixes it. I never checked the cat to see if it's super hot on one side or not. The fuel pump I can hear turning on as well.

That sure sounds like good ol' fashioned vapor lock.

I second the idea about old fashioned vapor lock, though I don’t know what would cause it in your case. Usually, if a cat is totally plugged up, it will glow cherry red while the vehicle is running, in my experience (not an expert, I’ve just seen it before). Two members here that always seem to know a ton about lots of different issues are adsm08 and RonD. If you can loop them in, they may have a better idea than myself.

Good luck, brotha.

My credo
to prevent Found On the Road Dead, Fix Or Repair Daily
Next time it happens bang on the brain. I dont even know where it is. But let me 'splain about old BMWs with Bosch EFI. It may be relevant 'cause Ford's EFI is based on the Bosch. Anyway, the problem is a broken solder connection on one of the legs of the power transistor. The one with the heat sink. The connections open due to heat which they generate because of increased resistance . When the unit has cooled off the connection shrinks closed. The above is for entertainment only, It has little RBV basis, just a wild assed guess. Sometimes a coil will heat up and short, but cool off and function. Another scenario is mostly for a steel tank with a rusty bottom. The pickup screen will plug up with rust. A 27 yr old plastic tank may have enough crap in the bottom to plug the screen. Engine stalls, stuff sinks back to the bottom. Until you start the engine and repeat the cycle. :icon_confused:

I think Andy D might be on the right track, swap out the PCM relay with a known good one and see of that solves the issue.

You must not have seen my other threads where my filler neck is completely detached from the gas cap. LOL. so taking off the gas cap wont make a difference.
