1990 Ranger XLT 2.9 4wd-Automatic 49k original Miles.
The gear shift linkage cable connection near the firewall just to right and under steering shaft is about to snap. The cable was resting on the manifold. The protective sleeve melted and the metal weave or braid that reinforces cable is broken so this his hanging on by a thread (see pics 3+4). I can’t seem to find any replacement part or diagrams on this cable for a 1990. not even the Chilton manual) about this linkage. I went to a few auto stores Napa, Autoalzone and a locally owned that always seems to have my parts. They couldn’t find this replacement cable for a 1990. Only 1993-1997.
1) Does anyone know how to get this part. Other than junk yard?
2) The cable/linkage connect to right and under steering shaft (see pics #1 and 2)
3) Any tips for removal/install?
Thank you for your help
