Ford now sees the Ranger buyer as different from the F-150 buyer. The Ranger owner is an urban dweller who drives his truck to work—not for work—and uses it to play on the weekend with his toys in the bed in back. It is not about affordability but more about size, scale, and fuel efficiency, says Eckert.

That is a disheartening comment. I know of at least one rural truck buyer that is tired of the F-150's ballooning size and cost. If I am going to have to pay for a F-150 though I might as well buy an F-150... or look over the fence.

FWIW we did mention cost when we talked with them and they seemed to acknowledge cost will be a factor in the Ranger's success.

I'm one that farms. Have a few 89-01 F-250's 350s and a 450. for my heavy duty work. I think think this new ranger is what I need to run to town in, haul my kids to and from town, and not break the bank on a new F 150 and fuel. I drive an '05 Expedition around now, it's way too big for what I need. Wife has a '10 Edge, I'm hoping the cab of this ranger is about that size. It's perfect for 2 young kids me and my wife. They have plenty of room in the back seat, and I like the feel of driving that car as it's easier to park and maneuver than the big Expedition.

I just have an acreage but I am kind of in the same boat.

For the heavy stuff (dry fertilizer cart, 250bu wagons etc) I could borrow one of dad's '250's. I would probably try a wagon but I am not sure a midsize would have enough lead in its butt to do it well. Dad is kind of the ringleader of our little antique equipment farming thing, I probably should be using his trucks anyway. For hauling my "big" tractor to town once a year to a tractor show... it is an hour to drive it vs dinking around with the trailer, loading and unloading it and then loading and unloading it again. I am not sure how far ahead I come out vs just driving it.

Pretty much everything else my '85 could tow easily so a '19 shouldn't have an issue.

Chass1971 is from Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico (or at least Cavsa Ford is). Guad is where I have been kicking tires of SCrew Rangers for past few years.

Also is there a means to out the transfer case in the N position for towing?

Nothing on diesel, no N t case position is kind of the current fad.

The new ranger really doesnt do much for me. Either does the new 150 or superduties. Its aggravating as hell that everything has to be a computer on wheels. I dont want touch screens, digital faux analog gauges, goofy terrian controls, and whatever other BS they use.

Vehicle tech should of halted somewhere between 87-96.
