I want to update the 3.0 Page in the Technical Library in the coming month(s).

The page is a few years old and I'm not sure how accurate the info is anymore. If you have ANY suggestions as to what should be added, changed or deleted from the page, please post them here. This includes part numbers, names of manufacturers, links, custom modifications, know problems or even cheap tricks.

Thanks.

What about some sort of roller rocker write-up...or just mentioning them. Didn't mutant pony slap some in his??? Pretty sure 5.0 rockers are a complete bolt on, and under dog performance sells some.

Or a compsite intake swap from a later Ranger 3.0 is good for a few horses, and had a removable TB, so that a slightly larger and less restrictive Throttle body from a new ford escape can be fitted on.

Maybe I'll add more later

this page hasnt been updated in a while, so i dont know if they are still producing parts...but tom morana sells stroker kits and long blocks.

i think rogue performance should also be added, lots of good info there.

Yes the 5.0 pedestal mount rockers bolt well, almost. The bolts are different, you have to have metric bolts. The 3.0 is m8x1.25 and the 302 is 5/16.
Stock ratio is 1.6, The 1.7 rockers will increase cam lift/duration a little.
The roller rockers (1.6) didn't give me a noticeable increase in power but, They did decrease the RPM at which the motor can accelerate. Which is probably the biggest complaint about the 3.0. Excellent improvement! I can shift at 2500 and accelerate just fine with 3.73s!!!!
Also I have nearly 4000 miles on my oil change and the oil looks like new!

connecting rod length: 5.53145
Block height:8.661
piston compression height: 1.5354
These measurements were missed and are very important for people making changes to the reciprocating assembly.

They may have a whipple still in stock, but from what I've found on the interent, it's my understanding that whipple stopped making them for the 3.0.

What about updating 5.0 donors... I've been looking and it seems anything after 2000 must be an exploder or mountaineer. Looks like mid '90's stangs, f150's, etc. had the 4.6. When did the 5.0 die?
