Hopefully you Canadian friends will get to move it around alot. It will start in Yukon Territory so all you folks need to start coordinating now especially in Western Canada where people are few and miles are many like Alaska. So with that said I plan on having it across the border in less than two weeks. PUCK er time.:icon_thumby:

So what are we thinking, plan wise? :dunno:

Got people asking about plans for May long weekend. Telling them I don't know is getting old :icon_twisted:

I will PM you Mike, just been trying to keep things flowing in my 420 million acres of land. :D

P.S. Then have them read the thread. Tell them to post up and bitch at me personally not Alaska members. I am responsible for where the banner went and its in the right place for our Fairbanks, Alaska members to share.

Don't worry its coming to Calgary. There's about 4-5 of us waiting for it here.

I had a dream last night I was signing the banner!

OK EVERYONE:

During the last banner event, there was a lot of interest from our Canadian Members to help with the banner.

The Banner is going to need a way out of Alaska. The only person between Anchorage Alaska and Sasquatch_Ryda and MrRangerSir is MountainMike.

Take a look at the map:

http://maps.google.ca/maps/ms?msid=211042799947636744748.0004b716d009601678167&msa=0&ll=37.113674,-108.424072&spn=75.404302,173.144531

We have some huge distance to cover getting this banner out of Canada. Lima Bean has suggested shipping it FedEx, but I think that really takes away from the whole challenge/adventure of it.

It would cost them over $600 in fuel to fly it out, and Alaska is the only place I've given the green light to fly it. People use planes in Alaska like we use cars do to the remoteness of the area.

It looks like transporting the banner to meet MountainMike is a 600 mile trip.

We need some ideas, and more volunteers.

We need to pull together and get this worked out.

I meant local people wondering about going four wheeling and stuff is all :D

Also the next big thing is when I get the banner is quite a drive to get the banner to somewhere halfway between Smithers\Terrace and Whitehorse. I was thinking Bell II might be an OK place to get it rolling along. Definitely getting it out of AK is going to be tough. I'm willing to drive all the way to TOK on a clear weekend to pick it up and carry it across the border but even with that, the border is pretty far away from the hub in Alaska. Skagway is only about 2 hours away but that could be even more difficult to pick up. If the banner does stall out, and it does need to get shipped, If anyone has a PO box in Skagway i would be more than inclined to drive to Skagway and pick it up so it does get to cross the border into Canada be way of a member.

Jim....I'd throw a few $ at cha if you set up a fuel fund...(but I think any member ought to be willing to pay for the first $100 of gas...that was my fuel expense to transport the 1st Banner in Loo-z-anna)

Edit: can you put a map link on the forum page like you did on 1st Banner Map?

Ya, that's the other thing. The distance between you and Lima Bean is HUGE. The only member between you is Mountain Mike.

It is a huge task, and a lot of area to cover.

Yeah the distance here is not like some simple short trip nor is the gas cheap up here. It is close to a 400 mile trip from anchorage to the border (one way) and gas is almost up to 5.00 bucks a gallon and is most likely over that once you get closer to Tok and the border. 100 bucks doesn't even cover the cost to fill up my trucks tank from empty.

So its going to be quite difficult. I would volenteer to ride my motorcycle up there if i had the time.

Tried to PM ya, but you are full. Looks like I was heading South when the banner was heading North. Drop me a PM if/when the banner gets back to Anchorage and I will come sign it. Would be nice to finally meet a local TRS member too.
