thanks guys it was one of my smaller projects this summer, but with all the rain this summer so far one of my nightmares when it comes to getting stuff done. we had the shingles all off and was just putting the last strip of felt paper down and it busted open in a nasty thunder storm... got soaked before getting off the roof,:icon_surprised:

Nice work.

I have a running joke with my parents, about "them Pennsylvania people".

Perfect example, right there. Gettin' it done.

Lots of work. Why is the new front addition so much higher then the roof line?

In the wild, many animals will try to make themselves look larger and more threatening to ward off predators, I can only assume that this house is doing the same.

This makes me miss my contruction class back in HS (my class got to build the new concession stand for the ball field :D), and my short lived days as an assistant roofer. We didn't have no fancy new fangled flared end stable ladders though, just a wobbly assed 15 year old ladder.

you would be correct, the dam building codes here stink. what we had to do is run a 2x something up the back roof line. then compensate for the shingle and plywood thickness and angle cut that ridge board and reinforce what we cut out. the idiots that made the codes said that ridge board had to be a 2x10 not the 2x6 that was in the plans. so the pics are correct it's higher than the original roof by 2 "..:bawling:

if you look at the second to the last pic the ridge lines up better than it looks open and the lady is happy with the work so that's all i could have hope to do in that case. I'm more of completely new construction and was doing this as a favor to a friend..
