From experience either over heating or defective coil or fuel starvation. Changed the fuel filter lately? Checked fuel pressure?

You are talking about in gear, right? Cause the, in neutral, rpm limiter cuts in around there.

no it only dose this under load and only seems to do it in 3rd, 4th and 5th but also only after it warms up.

tried a mechanical temp gauge and all is well temp wise.

I have to do an oil change so ill try the fuel filter, just seems weird that it only seems to do it in the top gears to be fuel starvation but its worth a shot I guess

I think its just time for an upgrade, after all it's an 02 that has 205000 miles and I paid 2k for it in 09 it dosen't owe me anything.

let me know if you come up with a solution. I am having very similar issues. I changed the cam position sensor with no effect.

I have an 03 with 135k miles that bucks like hell @ 4000rpm. Was thinking about the cam synchronizer replacement but now not so much. No CEL showing. No other problems but seems to not have as much power as it should.
