Default Decision

I am trying to decide between a 2011 4 cyl. ranger with 9,000 miles for $17,500 and a 2009 6 cyl. sport ranger with 15,000 miles for $15,500. I was just wondering if either is more reliable than the other? Or if there has been any consistent problems with either? Thanks.

Which 6 cylinder is the 2009? 3.0 or 4.0? Are both trucks manual or automatic? Is the 2009 4wd? Need some more info first.

6 cyl is the 4.0. Both are automatics and neither are 4wd. Both are also extended cab. 2 door.

I'd say they're both pretty equal as far as reliability goes. All the issues with the 4.0 have been ironed out years ago. The 2.3 has always been very reliable. Really no common issues with either. The 4 cylinder will get way better gas mileage. The extra $2k you spend on the newer truck will pay off in gas savings alone. I would test drive both, and unless you reeaallly want the extra power of the 6 cyl, go with the 4 cylinder.

Darn...2wd's for that much? Hmmmmmm...Neither. I would look for a low milage 4x4 2007-2009. Here in the Bay Area one of my buddy's bought a nice 2011 4x4 4.0 supercab (stock) with 11,000 miles on it for under 17K with full warranty and extended warranty fro a Ford dealership. It is a Red 4 door and it is nice!!!! Look around a bit more and see what you can get for a better price.
